Volume Pedal Tips

Placing you volume pedal at the start of you chain of effects can often be the wrong place for it. Two other places for volume pedals are after your overdrives/distortion effects and at the end of your chain. let me explain why.

Distortions and overdrives pedals are affected by the level of signal going through them, so putting you volume pedal before overdrive/distortions can affect the drive you’ve set. By putting your volume pedal after these pedals you aren’t going to affect the sound or level of drive that you have set and are always going to get a consistent sound.

Placing your volume pedal at the end of the chain works as a noise gate and lets you silence any unwanted noise that is in your pedalboard system from getting to your amp and being amplified during moments when your not playing.
